1️⃣ Brain’s Main Function 🧠

👉 The basic function of the human mind is to match the internal state to the external state.

E.g. Waiting in long line at a store

Case 1: I’ve got work to do, late on my payments (stressed internal state 😡 )

I’ll get frustrated or impatient and portray it on others.

Case 2: I’ve gotten a my morning run or exercise, prioritised my tasks for the day (calm internal state 🙂 )

I’ll be patient, maybe scroll though my feed, probably happily smiling around.

2️⃣ How do we learn? 👨‍🎓

👉 At any give point our brain optimizes for 3 things before we do something -

Duration - How long something is going to last ? Path - What’s going to happen during it? Outcome - What is ultimately going to happen?

Our brain loves doing reflexive things that don’t require much thought- talk, pickup things (coffee mug), scroll, etc.

💡 Any potential task that you want to do and is hard is first followed by a agitation not to do it (That’s how we’re wired).

📖 When you decide to learn something 👇

-> Adrenaline is released in response to it -> Brings in a state of Alertness -> Followed by a state of friction or agitation -> Once this barrier is crossed -> Acetylcholine comes into play to remember this particular process ( A neural network is created, voila!) -> Once a certain milestone is achieved on the set path -> Dopamine is released -> And this process continues…

👉 Learning happens in the thin line where this barrier keeps increasing, delaying dopamine release response.

( 🔖 Acetylcholine - Neuro-transmitter that plays role in memory, learning, attention, etc.)

3️⃣ Urgency + Focus 🔕

Any task to be achieved needs a sense of urgency to it :

E.g. Have to get that sale or my kids won’t have food to eat or in case of Oppenheimer, the Atom bomb needed to be built faster than the Germans.

Huge amount of Focus needs to be brought in to be successful in an endeavor :

E.g. I can try to 9 languages so-so or really be able to speak 1 properly

What I could get from the discussion is repetition of said behaviour to strengthen the network in the brain created.
